HORTICULTURAL CURIOSIITIES - topiary

Topiary is popular in many gardens.

 

 

 

The entrance to the garden at Mill House at Muggington near Derby is through a huge privet hedge which has been cut into the shape of a cottage, complete with chimneys,

and a wooden door completes the entrance.

 

 

More ambitious is a fine privet hedge in the garden of Rose Cottage at Kilnwick near Driffield in East Yorkshire.   The hedge has been cut to form the shape of a complete three piece suite

which consists of two arm chairs and a settee, a most unusual sight.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Amongst the many items of topiary at Chastleton House in Oxfordshire, a rabbit and a train

are plain to see.
